Where to shop

Center Where What to know
The Oaks Mall 6419 Newberry Road, at I-75 Exit 387 Gainesville’s enclosed mall; holiday hours appear on its hours panel when set
Celebration Pointe Off Archer Road, about a quarter mile west of I-75 Open-air shops and restaurants; two parking decks on the west side
Butler Plaza SW 34th Street and Archer Road, east of I-75 Big-box and chain stores; the bridge on Celebration Pointe Avenue links it to Celebration Pointe
Downtown Gainesville Main Street and University Avenue Independent stores and galleries; the natural stop for Small Business Saturday

Store hours on Black Friday are set by each retailer, so a store inside a mall may open before or after the mall itself. We add each center’s hours here when it publishes them.

Celebration Pointe rules: the center says children under 17 must be with a parent or guardian 21 or older from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday through Sunday. It is pet-friendly. Its two garages are the Orange Deck, south of Hotel Indigo, and the Blue Deck, north of the 5001 Building.

Small Business Saturday, Nov. 28

Small Business Saturday falls on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and is aimed at independent stores. In Gainesville that means downtown, the shops in Haile Village Center and neighborhood stores across town. Downtown parking is free that day except in the SW Downtown Garage, so it is the easiest day of the weekend to shop Main Street.

Holiday markets

  • 44th Annual Downtown Festival and Art Show, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14-15, downtown around Bo Diddley Plaza. The city says more than 200 local and national artists sell paintings, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics and more, with live music on four stages. - Gainesville Garden Club Holiday Market, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 1350 NW 75th St. The club’s third annual market has local artisans and crafters, plant vendors and food vendors. Admission is free; the club asks shoppers to bring a nonperishable food item for local pantries.
  • Downtown Winter Market Series. In 2025 the city listed this market on The Streatery, SW First Street between Main Street and SW Second Street, from Dec. 12 to Jan. 25, with vendors, live music and weekly themes from 4 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Parking and traffic

  • Downtown: parking is free on weekends and city-observed holidays except in the SW Downtown Garage, 105 SW Third St. Black Friday is not on the city’s holiday list, so pay stations and the PassportParking app apply as on any weekday. Details are on our getting around guide.
  • Archer Road and I-75: Butler Plaza and Celebration Pointe sit on either side of the interstate. Celebration Pointe can be reached from Archer Road or, from Butler Plaza, by heading west on SW 30th Avenue or SW 30th Place and crossing the bridge over I-75.
