Where to find legal notices for Gainesville and Alachua County: FloridaPublicNotices.com, City Commission agendas, and the clerk's foreclosure and tax deed sales.
Last checked Oct. 8, 2026. This page is an index, not an official publication. It points to where Gainesville and Alachua County legal notices are published. A notice has legal effect only where the law requires it to be published.
Florida requires governments, courts and some private parties to publish notice of hearings, budgets, rezonings, foreclosures, name changes, fictitious business names and more. Most of those notices still run in a newspaper of general circulation, and newspaper notices are also collected on a statewide website.
Where to look first
- Statewide notice site: FloridaPublicNotices.com, searchable by county; sign up for text or email alerts
- City of Gainesville: City Clerk’s Office, 352-334-5015, City Hall, 200 E. University Ave.
- Alachua County Clerk of the Court (foreclosures, tax deeds, official records): 352-374-3636, 201 E. University Ave.
The statewide site
FloridaPublicNotices.com, run through the Florida Press Association, collects the legal notices that Florida newspapers publish. Search by county (Alachua) and by keyword, such as a street name, a case number or “Gainesville.” Older notices are in its archive.
Online-only notices
Since 2022, section 50.0311, Florida Statutes, has let a city, county or school board publish legally required notices on its county’s designated public website instead of in a newspaper, if that costs less. Notices published that way must be searchable and show the date they were first posted. If a Gainesville or Alachua County body uses that route, its notice will be on the county-designated site instead of in the paper, so check both.
