Father’s Day is Sunday, June 20, 2027, the day after Juneteenth, so Gainesville’s Juneteenth and Father’s Day events will share a weekend. Last year the day brought a free music festival and a free beer for dads at two breweries, a family film at the Hippodrome and, a week later, two free family days in Newberry.

The city’s fatherhood cookout (2025)

As part of its month-long Journey to Juneteenth series, the City of Gainesville held Tha Cookout: A Juneteenth and Fatherhood Celebration from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Cynthia Chestnut Park, 2315 SE 35th St. The city described it as a celebration of Black unity and fatherhood, with food, music, lawn and card games, dancing, family competitions and a spades tournament. Entry was free with an RSVP.

Car shows

The Marine Corps League’s Hot Rodding for Heroes car show at High Springs Brewing Company, 18562 NW 237th St., High Springs, is semi-annual. It ran May 2, 2026, and is listed again for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2026. Spectators are free; cars and motorcycles pay to enter. A Father’s Day car show in Gainesville itself has not been announced for 2027; organizers can send details through our contact page.
