Where it is
The city’s neighborhood layer draws Pleasant Street as about 113 acres bounded by West University Avenue on the south, Northwest Sixth Street on the west, North Main Street on the east and Northwest Eighth Avenue on the north. Downtown is across University Avenue, the Fifth Avenue neighborhood is across Sixth Street and Duckpond is a block east of Main Street.
The city’s address data lists 608 addresses inside that line, 453 of them homes. About four in 10 homes carry an apartment or unit number. Every address is in ZIP code 32601.
The historic district
The City Commission approved the Pleasant Street Historic District as a historic preservation overlay on Feb. 18, 1991, according to the city’s historic preservation element (PDF). The same document says the district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places that year, and points to it as an example of houses with porches set close to one another and to the street. On the city’s district map the historic district covers about 47% of the neighborhood, and all of it lies inside Pleasant Street. The city has a map of the district (PDF).
Design review for properties in a local historic district follows Section 30-112 of the city’s Land Development Code, the historic preservation page says. Questions go to the Planning Division, 352-334-5023.
