All Gainesville where-to-eat lists in one place: wings, pizza, Mexican, breakfast and coffee, burgers, sushi and Asian, desserts, bakeries, patios.

Last checked Oct. 9, 2026. Refreshed every three months.

Gainesville’s restaurants gather in three places: downtown, around SE 1st Street, SE 1st Avenue and the 4th Ave Food Park; the blocks near the University of Florida, on West University Avenue, NW 13th Street and SW 13th Street; and the shopping centers along SW 34th Street and Archer Road around Butler Plaza and University Town Center. A smaller cluster sits in the northwest along NW 16th Boulevard and NW 43rd Street. These lists cover places inside the city limits, so restaurants with a Gainesville mailing address in unincorporated Alachua County, such as those on NW 39th Avenue west of the city line or in Jonesville, are not on them.

How we made these lists. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Gainesville’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 9, 2026. Places we added name their source on each list. Every list is alphabetical. None is a ranking or a recommendation, and nobody paid to be on any of them. Run a restaurant? Patios and outdoor dining lists nine restaurants and cafes whose own sites name a patio or outdoor seating, from an outdoor patio cafe in Magnolia Parke to Southern cooking on SE 1st Avenue downtown.

We did not publish a barbecue list this time: fewer than four barbecue restaurants inside the city limits could be confirmed on their own websites. We will look again at the next refresh.
