Alachua County Public Schools students earned 189 perfect scores on 2026 state tests. Fourteen had perfect scores on more than one test, up from 11 a year earlier.
Alachua County Public Schools students earned 189 perfect scores on Florida’s state tests in 2026. The district announced the count Thursday, from results released by the Florida Department of Education.
Fourteen students had perfect scores on more than one test. That is up from 11 in 2025, the district said in its Nov. 5 announcement.
The top scorers
One student earned perfect scores on four state exams: algebra, civics, language arts and science. The student took the tests as an eighth-grader in the Lyceum Center for Advanced Studies at Lincoln Middle School and now attends Buchholz High School.
Another student earned three perfect scores, in language, math and science. That student took the tests as a fifth-grader at Alachua Elementary School and now attends Mebane Middle School. Alachua Elementary and Mebane Middle are in the city of Alachua, about 10 miles northwest of Gainesville.
The district named both students and published their photos. We do not name students under 18 in our reporting.
Schools across the county
The district listed 25 schools with perfect scores. They include three Gainesville high schools and campuses in Alachua, Archer, Hawthorne, High Springs and Newberry.
- Elementary schools (13): Alachua, Archer, Chiles, Foster, Glen Springs, Hidden Oak, Idylwild, Littlewood, Meadowbrook, Parker, Talbot, Wiles and Williams
- Middle schools (5): Bishop, Fort Clarke, Lincoln, Oak View and Westwood
- Combined schools (2): High Springs Community School (K-8) and Hawthorne Middle High School
- High schools (5): Buchholz, Eastside, Gainesville, Newberry and Santa Fe
The district’s announcement does not break the 189 scores down by school, grade or subject. It also does not give the 2025 total, so we cannot say whether the overall count rose or fell.
What the state said
Florida Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas sent each student a letter of congratulations, the district said.
“I am very proud of your accomplishment,” Kamoutsas wrote. “Your exceptional achievement is an example to others of the success that can be attained through working hard and caring about your education.”
What it means for you
- If your child earned a perfect score, the commissioner’s letter is addressed to them. Ask your child’s school which tests the scores were on.
- The district has not published a school-by-school list of the 189 scores. Ask your school if you want to know how many of them came from your child’s campus.
- Our Alachua County public schools guide covers school zones, the district calendar and how to enroll.
